This part really lives up to the name of the round. Musashi barely survives the falling rock deathtrap and defeats a birdman to enter a foggy Japanese building littered with ninjas. The next level looks insane because you have to jump from falling rock to falling rock, with some enemies messing with you. Musashi enters the facility to fight… MECHA-GODZILLA?! The first part of this stage has Musashi entering a facility as the forest in the background burns… Using no ninjutsu gives you a bonus at the end of the level. I managed to beat them this time without using any ninjutsu. At the end, there are two nasty mechs with a lot of weapons that get up in your grill. This is probably where I gave up on the original game. One cool thing about bosses is that their color changes as you damage them. □īut then, you’re forced to navigate a series of pipes and tanks in an infernal maze. It starts off with Musashi on a surfboard, making him a surf ninja. I ran out of shurikens against him, so I began to just kick him over and over until I almost ran out of health and finished him off with a Kariu. Then, you discover the end-of-level boss, a hideous giant that looks like it’s made out of bones and veiny hamburger. Of special note is the lab, which features brain monsters with legs, brains with insectoid wings, and sludge men. Musashi discovers some disturbing experiments at the military facility/lab. ![]() Musashi heads for a Neo-Zeed facility… on horseback! I was never as good at these kinds of levels as I wanted to be. Musashi starts off in a forest leading to an atmospheric cavern. This is one of those older games with screens in between levels showing Musashi’s route through the adventure. The controls are really great, and improve the enjoyment of the game by making it easy to do awesome ninja stuff.Īlso good: the music. ![]() Kariu: Pillars of flames damage every enemy on screen.įushin: Multiplies Musashi’s jumping ability. Mijin: Kills every enemy on screen, but costs one of your precious lives. Ikazuchi: A bolt of lightning gives Musashi temporary invisibility. The weapons at this disposal: his trusty katana, a limited number of shurikens, a downward diagonal kick, and some ninjutsu spells. ![]() In this game, Joe Musashi has to put a stop to the return of the evil organization Neo-Zeed. Not as cool as Streets of Rage 2, but still cool.
